GLEN ROSE — For two weekends in December, people can experience a walk from Babylon to Bethlehem on a caravan journey with the three kings and view a live nativity scene in The Promise of Christmas - King’s Journey.

“We want to present the story of Christ’s birth with respect, and acknowledge the miracle of it, and we want people to have a good time,” said Chuck King, managing director of The Promise in Glen Rose.

King said they began writing the script at the end of September. In addition to a cast of 20 people, and the exhibition will also include live animals. The journey will end on the stage with the nativity scene.

“I wanted to do something that is a little more interactive and immersive for the audience where they are part of the action,” he said.

During the 45-minute journey, there will be exhibits along the way where people can stop and interact with the cast and meet the characters of the nativity, King said.

“On the stage, they will experience the nativity with Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, and the Christmas angels,” King said.

The cost of the event that will run from 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 7-9, 14-16 is $20 per car or $40 per church van, and it includes a free hot drink and photos with Santa. Advance booking is highly recommended.

“We can share the gospel through the Christmas story and help the community by bringing more people to Glen Rose,” King said. “Hopefully, it is something that will catch on, and we can build on from year to year.”

There will also be a holiday market with various vendors.
