The Glen Rose High School Tiger Pride Band earned the first runner-up spot in the Open Class and was awarded a Division One rating after competing with 26 other bands in the Lake Whitney Marching Festival last month. On Oct. 19, the GRHS Band competed in the UIL Regional Marching Contest in Springtown, and Band Director Ray Portillo said, “This was definitely one of the band’s strongest performances for the season. I feel that the kids took their playing to the next level,” and their feet “found their places.” Tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 9), the band’s percussion section — the drum line — will compete in the Lone Star Classic at Marcus High School in Flower Mound.
