FORT WORTH, TX (June 8, 2020) – Two Glen Rose High School seniors are the 2020 recipients of the John and Frances Wasilchak scholarship.
Kimberly Sanchez and Brandt Moore were each awarded $5,000 to be used during their freshmen year of college. The scholarship award is renewable each year of their college careers as long as they remain full-time students and maintain a set GPA.
Number four in her class, Sanchez will study Nursing at Tarleton State University. She wants to use her degree to make an impact on people’s lives by becoming a nurse anesthetist in pediatric oncology. Sanchez was the National Honor Society Treasurer, Workforce Industry Training (WIT) President, Spanish Honor Society President and a member of Power Set.
Moore will attend Texas A&M University and plans to major in Business Administration. Moore is ranked in the top 10% of his graduating class and has participated in the National Honor Society, Glen Rose FFA and Varsity Athletics. As an Eagle Scout, Moore plans to use the skills he’s learned to become a leader and represent Glen Rose at Texas A&M and beyond.
The Wasilchak Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 at the North Texas Community Foundation. To date, the fund has awarded more than $555,400 and benefitted 35 Glen Rose High School students.
