Tanner Stroud, a 2018 Glen Rose High School graduate, made the Dean’s List as a sophomore attending Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.

Stroud will begin his junior year of college this fall, pursuing a degree in Business Administration from HSU’s Kelly College of Business.

Stroud is playing football for HSU’s Cowboys, who are ranked No. 14 in the nation in NCAA Division III.

For GRHS, Stroud earned first-team all-district and Class 4A football honorable mention all-state recognition from the Associated Press as a senior defensive lineman in 2018. He was also a regional qualifier in powerlifting as a senior.

Last season as a sophomore with the Cowboys, Stroud was on the Travel Team and rotated in as a defensive tackle. As a freshman in the 2018 season, Stroud played on the HSU Developmental Squad.

For his junior season, Stroud will be switching to a defensive end position and should be on the Travel Team once again.

The Cowboys’ offensive coordinator is Glen Rose High School graduate Jeff Whitehead.

Stroud plans to graduate from HSU in December 2021, and to pursue a career as a third-generation firefighter.

The Cowboys compete in athletics as a member of the American Southwest Conference.
