Grab your voter registration card or photo identification and head to the polls beginning next Monday, the first day of the early voting period for local elections.

Registered voters may begin casting their ballots next week in three local elections, including the Glen Rose city council, Glen Rose ISD school board and Somervell County Water District.

Although the deadline has passed to participate in this year's local elections, registered voters will have nearly two weeks to cast their ballots before Election Day, Saturday, May 10.

Glen Rose City Council

Early voting will begin for the Glen Rose city elections on April 28 and continue through May 6. Polls will be open at Town Hall for early voting from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

During the Early Voting period, voters will have two 12-hour days to visit the polls, including April 29 and April 30, when Town Hall will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On Election Day, polls will be open at Town Hall for 12 hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot is May 2, for those voters who will be out of town during the voting period. Mail-in ballots must be received by the election judge at Town Hall by May 10.

GRISD School Board

Early voting will begin for the GRISD school board elections on April 28 and continue through May 6. Polls will be open at the GRISD Administration Building for early voting from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

On Election Day, polls will be open at Glen Rose Town Hall for 12 hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the city and school district will hold a joint-election.

The last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot is May 2, for those voters who will be out of town during the voting period. Mail-in ballots must be received by the GRISD election judge on May 10.

Somervell County Water District

Registered voters may cast their ballots in the Somervell County Water District bond and board of director’s election during the Early Voting period, which begins April 28 and continues until May 6. Polls will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Saturdays and Sundays.

On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. All voting will be conducted at the SCWD offices, located at 2521 CR 301 in Glen Rose.
