There is a new judge in town.

Somervell County Commissioner’s Court appointed Ronnie Webb as justice of the peace for precinct 1 Monday.

The appointment came after the resignation of Judge Kenneth Taylor for health reasons, County Judge Walter Maynard said. Webb was defeated in the 2006 election by Taylor for the position by a mere two votes.

Webb, a 35-year resident of Somervell County, is not a newcomer to the elected official market. He was elected for three terms as a trustee for the Glen Rose Independent School District, serving seven years total.

“Many thanks to the commissioner’s court of Somervell County for the vote of confidence in appointing me to fill the unexpired term of justice of the peace held by Kenneth Taylor,” Webb said. “I promise to serve Somervell County and its citizens to the best of my ability.”

Webb currently owns Webb Mowing with Doyle Wilson. He is also employed as a driver for Cleburne Propane and as a realtor for Pruitt Realty. Webb was married to the late Helen Webb for 28 years and the couple had two daughters, Amanda Garza and Courtney Andrews. He married Patti Webb seven years ago and has two stepchildren, stepson Brady Daniel and stepdaughter Casey Daniel.
