Walnut Springs made quick work of Gordon, running away with a 63-16 win in a game that was called at half time due to six-man's 45-point mercy rule on Friday, Sept. 4.
Kody Stack scored four touchdowns for the second straight week, and once again did it by finding the end zone on offense, defense and special teams. He scored on runs of 25 and 49 yards before returning an interception 20 yards to pay dirt - all in the first quarter. He then returned a kickoff 70 yards for his final TD in the second.
Stack, who also had nine tackles on Friday, finished with 10 touches for 219 yards a week after amassing 381 yards on 18 touches in the Hornets' season-opening win against Kopperl. The senior now has exactly 600 all-purpose yards and eight TDs on just 28 touches. If he continues this pace he would finish the regular season with exactly 3,000 all-purpose yards.
The Hornets also picked up scores on a four-yard run and an 11-yard pass by quarterback Eddie Whitt. The 11-yard pass, which was hauled in by Jacob White, made it 26-8 before Stack's defensive TD gave Walnut Springs 34 first-quarter points.
Mario Ballesteros also tossed a TD with a 20-yarder to Trey Bushca, Ryan Engelhardt sprinted across the goal line from the 19, and Whitt threw a second TD, this one hauled in by Chase Berry, covering seven yards.
Behind Stack's team-high nine tackles, White had seven and Andrew Herring added six.
After a pair of home games to begin the season, Walnut Springs (2-0) begins a three-game road stand at Acquilla on Friday. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
