Eight youth from Glen Rose have advanced to the sectional round of the Optimist NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competiton.
Winners in each age division of a contest sponsored locally by the Glen Rose chapter of the Optimist Club advance to the sectional event Oct. 6 at Gateway Park Synthetic Turf Fields in Fort Worth.
Kanyon Keese won the boys ages 6-7 division.
Kasen Keese won the boys 8-9 division, followed by Coleman Costello in second and Eleazar Mendez in third.
Jessica Howell won the girls 8-9 division, followed by Presley Young.
Jake Anderson won first place, Diego Aguilar second and Jett Gould third in the boys 10-11 division.
Bryanna Lytle won first, Annie Bryant second and Macy Bybee third in the girls 10-11 event.
Drayton Williams won the boys 12-13 competition, followed by Chris Harrison and Chasen Monk in second and third, respectively.
Courtney Cooper won the girls 12-13 competition. McKenzie Morrison was second.
Peyton Lytle won the boys 14-15 event with Ethan Krueger coming in second.
Glen Rose head football coach Tommy Dunn made a special appearance to encourage the competitors, who received certificates of participation signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
