Other places have the Easter Bunny, but Glen Rose has the Easter Horse.
Fourth-graders last week met sculptor Robert Summers on the courthouse square and learned about the source of his inspiration and method for creating sculptures such as his bronze of Glen Rose early settlers and founders Charles and Juana Barnard.
Summers said he didn’t mind at all that residents like to decorate Charles' head with a Santa hat at Christmas or a green top hat for St. Patrick’s Day.
“Sculpture should be enjoyed,” Summers said.
To prove that point, he pulled out a pair of bunny ears, much to the students’ delight. Where to put them? The kids took a vote and decided on the horse, of course.
