The 4-B Tax Advisory Board approved funding for Phase I of the Riverwalk Project on Feb. 12.

Riverwalk Committee Chair Margaret Drake and engineer Michael Buckley presented information about the project.

After some discussion, board members decided that the majority of the Riverwalk pathway would be concrete.

Concern was voiced over the life expectancy of the pathway if wooden planks were used. Members felt that floodwater from the river might wear down the wood. They agreed that only elevated portions of the path would be a boardwalk.

The board unanimously voted to approve $643,710 for the project.

The next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, March 2, in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

A discussion of the proposed Water Park is slated for the meeting.
