The Reporter has been soliciting letters to Santa from children for our annual Christmas issue, which we plant to print next week. One letter particularly touched our hears. So we came up with the idea to fulfill this special little boy's Christmas wishes.

Linda Rowe and Carrie Lytle got on the phone. The community quickly responded.

So far we have had a Christmas dinner (donated by Brookshire's), case of Dublin Dr. Peppers (Red Barn), plant (Wiley's Flowers & Gifts), day-long outing (Fossil Rim Wildlife Center), tool bos (Smith's Supply), gas card (Mighty Mart), clothes for the boy (Carrie and Bryanna Lytle), groceries (Rainbow Baptist Church) and some cash and gift cards donated or promised.

If you'd like to help as well, you can give us a call at (254) 897-2282, e-mail us at or drop by our office on U.S. Highway 67 (Big Bend Trail) next to Burger King and across from Glen Rose Medical Center.

Perhaps you or your children would like to send this child a card and let him know that people care.

We'll let you know how it all works out for this particular family in a future issue. We are keeping the name confidential unless we receive permission from the family.

It looks like many of this special boy's Christmas wishes will come true thanks to the kindness of many people and the spirit of Santa Claus.

Here is his letter just as he wrote it:

Dear Santa,

Can you pay my house bill's. And can you get more food for us? because my dad doesn't have a good job.

I like to get my dad a plant. and get my mom a few Dudlin Dr. Pepers (Dublin Dr. Peppers) a few. And I would like to get my granddaddy a tool box. grandmy and my aunt are cuvered (covered)!

and I would like a nice day with my falmily.
