Motorists noticed a buzz of activity at the EZ-Mart convenience store Thursday afternoon when Somervell County Sheriff Deputy Shane Tipton arrested Carl Castro for possession of drug paraphernalia after a brief chase.

Just after 11:30 a.m. March 26, Tipton, who is the resource officer for Glen Rose Independent School District, saw a white Ford F-150 speed through downtown Glen Rose past the courthouse.

Tipton pursued the pick up to the EZ-Mart on Highway 67.

The driver, Carl Castro from Cleburne, was subsequently arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Lt. Anders Dahl said the evidence would be analyzed to determine if traces of drug residue could be identified.

Deputy Mike Reynolds made a second drug arrest in an unrelated incident late Sunday night.

Reynolds responded to a call to assist fellow Deputy Alan West regarding underage drinking on County Road 1001.

When Reynolds arrived, he noticed a red Chevrolet vehicle with several people inside. The driver consented to a search.

Reynolds discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and arrested Justin Collins, 20, of Mansfield, was arrested and sent to the Somervell County Jail for possession of marijuana less than two ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.
