Reporter staff report

State Representative Sid Miller has scheduled a town hall meeting for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Somervell County Citizenís Center.

Citizens and voters are invited to come out and meet Miller. He will be available to answer any questions.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. immediately following Miller.

Representatives from TCEQ will be on hand to answer questions about the air quality permit application they received from Slick Machines in August.

The public is invited to attend this meeting and bring any questions they have for TCEQ or Slick Machines.

Many Somervell County residents have joined forces to keep Tommy Davis, owner of Slick Machines, from opening a rock crushing facility on the Somervell-Erath county line near Chalk Mountain.

The property directly affected by the facility is in Somervell County and owned by Larry Parham.

Some residents are concerned that Davis has already begun working at the site, ahead of the scheduled TCEQ hearing and before he has received a permit.
