Dulcimer musicians and fans came from as far away as Kansas, Michigan and North Carolina for last weekend’s 29th Annual Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival held at Oakdale Park. Some played the elegant elongated Appalachian or mountain dulcimers, while others plinked on multi-stringed hammer dulcimers. About 20 players gathered under the big oak tree on the Somervell County Courthouse square for a jam session that included dulcimers, a bass, guitars, mandolins and traditional songs that pre-dated the Civil War.
