The City of Glen Rose is seeking citizen input during a public workshop set for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Somervell County Expo Center.
The city has been working to develop a comprehensive plan to help mold and guide developments for future generations.
“The city has hired a firm to help develop the plan,” said Larry Shaw, who volunteers his time to the effort.
The City Council also appointed a Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee to work hand in hand with Sefko Planning Group of Freese and Nichols, Inc.
The meeting will be interactive, encouraging input from audience members.
Any former council members, potential future council members or anyone interested in the long-term development of the city should attend.
“We need public input,” Shaw said. “This is what we want Glen Rose to be as we grow further.”
The comprehensive plan will include the development of sidewalks, drainage, parks and recreation, signs and ordinances.
“Ultimately, this is going to be a road map,” Shaw said. “We don’t want to grow into this 10 years from now and say, ‘Why didn’t we do it this way?’”
The completion of the plan is still over a year away, but developers want to make sure the public has a chance to give input.
Shaw said they are hoping to have anywhere from 75 to 100 citizens in attendance.
Anyone who is unable to attend the meeting can mail comments to Comprehensive Plan, C/O City of Glen Rose, PO Box 1949, Glen Rose, Texas 76043.
