Ryan Darby, a Glen Rose High School graduate, died Friday, Aug. 14, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Aug. 9.

According to the Department of Public Safety accident report, Darby, 21, lost control of his vehicle at approximately 2:15 a.m. after going into a curve on Texas Highway 108 in Stephenville at an unsafe speed. The 2006 Ford F-250 crossed the highway and skidded across a culvert, then entered the southbound lane. Darby overcorrected, which caused the truck to skid and resulted in it rolling. He was ejected from the vehicle and transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth via Air Evac Life Team.

The accident report cited speed and alcohol as the cause of the accident.

Jessica Allen, 20, of Cleburne was a passenger in the vehicle. She left the scene of the accident but was found the next morning.

Funeral services for Darby will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at the Glen Rose High School Auditorium at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Brazos Point Cemetery.

Memorials are asked to be made to the American Welding Society Scholarship Fund.
