Two local ladies have found a way to take something bad and turn it into something good.
On Sunday, for the fifth year, Jo Hawkins and Patricia West will host the Glen Rose Tour of Homes from 2-6 p.m. The event benefits the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Glen Rose.
“Patricia West and I have been friends since high school,” co-sponsor Hawkins said. “She has cancer and my daddy had cancer. We decided for our fundraiser for our Relay for Life teams we would do this (event). I think we’ve been raising about $1,000 each year. We are hoping each one of us makes about $500 for our team.”
The tour will feature five Glen Rose homes and all four buildings at Heritage Park. Refreshments will be served at Barnard’s Mill.
“It is a self-guided tour,” Hawkins said. “You just go at your leisure.”
Tickets for the event are being sold at Tracks in Time, Rummage Around, Junkyard Dog and by Patricia West. They will also be sold at each home and Barnard’s Mill the day of the tour. Tickets are $10 each.
Maps will be available at each of Sunday’s featured stops.
