Glen Rose citizens have another opportunity to voice their opinion on a 4-B project. A petition has been making its way through town, calling on city council members to hold a citywide election before approving $4 million in bonds for park and recreation projects.
The main project under consideration by the 4-B Economic Development Corporation is the purchase of Oakdale Park. The board is already moving forward with Phase I of the Riverwalk.
The petition must be returned to City Secretary Peggy Busch before the July 13 city council meeting. She must also have enough time to verify the signatures before the meeting.
To be successful in calling for an election, the petition must have verified signatures from at least 10 percent of the registered voters in the city of Glen Rose.
There were 1,489 registered voters during the last city council election in May.
