The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) started a construction project on Monday, July 14, at the intersection of North FM 51 and Siesta Court in Hood County.
TxDOT released a statement saying the project is ôsafety work, consisting of subgrade widening and left turn lanes, to provide increased safety and smooth ride for the traveling public.
Traffic control signals were set up on July 11 and the work began on July 14. Crews will work on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. TxDOT said the project should be finished in September.
One lane will be closed while workers are present, but both lanes will be open at night. A pilot car will be on hand to lead traffic through the work area.
Motorists should expect some delays during this time and are advised to seek an alternative route if possible.
TxDOT also reminded drivers that traffic fines are doubled in work zones.
