A one-vehicle crash on County Road 301a Monday afternoon injured the 16-year-old driver.
The late-model black Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling northbound near Wheeler Branch Reservoir when it left the roadway, crashed into pipe supports on a barbed-wire fence and landed near a brush pile.
The driver, Samir Salcido, was taken by ambulance to Glen Rose Medical Center. His condition was not known at publication time.
The accident occurred around 3:40 p.m.
The Somervell County Sheriff's Department and Somervell Fire Department and EMS responded to the call. A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was en route to the scene to conduct an investigation into the accident's cause.
Skid marks were visible in the roadway as a curve began, and in the grass before the truck crashed through the fence. The Somervell County Water District owns and maintains the fence.
The passenger side of the vehicle was smashed, as was the windshield.
