The Outdoor Channel will hold the third annual Extreme Predator Calling (XPC) contest Saturday in Cleburne.

The statewide contest offers hunters a chance to show off their skills and to walk away with a little extra cash.

Brian Doty, host of Xtreme Outdoor Adventures that airs on the Sportsman Channel, said the event will give away more than $7,500 in prizes. Plus, a fur dealer will be on hand to evaluate and purchase pelts brought in.

As hunting seasons wax and wane, Doty said there is no moratorium on hunting predators. Farmers and ranchers are often the first to notice any spikes in predator populations when livestock are taken.

“Not only does it help control the predator population, but the guys get to win some prizes and have some fun,” Doty said.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at Lonestar Ranch & Outdoors in Cleburne.
