Reporter Staff Report
The Glen Rose Chamber of Commerce hosted a successful July 4th parade.
Rosie Mims, parade organizer and volunteer, said 40 floats were registered this year. Eight floats were recognized and awarded trophies in various categories.
“It was a great success and I appreciate each and every participant,” Mims said. “They were all winners, we just didn’t have that many trophies.”
The winning floats were:
Best Individual Float - Jose Montellano and his red Chevrolet pick up
Best Club Float - Cub Scout Pack 725, with Patrick Locke as den leader
Best Antique - Happy Hill Farm with an old flatbed truck from Marvin Douglas
Best Patriotic Float - Glen Rose Tree Farm, Ben 10’s float with Bridges Hague
Best Non-float - Bussy Stone Hut
Best Junior Float - Christine Talley and Sacred Heart Child Care
Judges Favorite - Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
Iron Horse Award - Gene Cherry and his 1947 red Farmall F12
This parade was the last one for organizers with the Chamber of Commerce. The local chapter of the American Legion will organize the parade next year.
