A public outreach meeting, hosted by staff from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will be held in Glen Rose to gather input from citizens ahead of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant's application for two new nuclear units.

The public meeting, scheduled for Thursday, June 12, will be open to all citizens at the Somervell County Expo. As part of the public outreach meeting, two sessions will be held including an open house from 6-7 p.m. and the public meeting from 7-9:30 p.m.

NRC staff will discuss the safety and environmental review of the anticipated application from Luminant for a combined license for two new nuclear units at the Comanche Peak Power Plant.

A key topic to be discussed is how and when the public may participate in the NRC review process, if desired. The public is encouraged to ask questions and provide comment about the NRC's review process for the Comanche Peak Power Plant's Units 3 and 4.

Participants in the discussion will include representatives from the Office of New Reactors and the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.

The agenda includes a poster session (open house) during the first hour, followed by introductions and opening remarks by NRC staff.

Representatives of the NRC will then present the public with information regarding their review process and the agency itself, followed by an overview of the review process, as well as construction inspections. An open forum will conclude the meeting, allowing the public to provide comment and ask questions.
