Special to the Reporter
As you are aware, the Somervell County Water Districtís office burned last December. Construction of the new office has been under way the past several months at a new location at the east end of the Wheeler Branch Reservoir dam. District staff relocated the office the week of September 1st from a temporary office trailer it has been using at 2521 C.R. 301 into its new offices located at 2099 C.R. 301. All contact information for the district has remained the same with the exception of the change to its physical address.
The cost of the new office was $368,000 with $277,000 being paid with the insurance settlement from the damage to the old office. The district paid $91,000 of its own money to complete the building, but was able to create an office that will meet the needs of the entity once it is in full operation with a full staff.
The new location will also better meet the needs of the district with it being situated in a central location between the proposed Wheeler Branch Park entrance and the future water treatment plant.
An open house is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24th from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the new location. The public is encouraged to stop by and view the districtís new facility.
