M W Supply welcomed its sister company, MesaTech, to Somervell County on Monday with a grand opening event and ribbon-cutting.
The companies will share space at M W Supply's building in the county's industrial park on Bo Gibbs Boulevard.
Members of the Glen Rose/Somervell County Chamber of Commerce, Somervell County commissioners, Glen Rose Mayor Jean King, City Administrator Ken West and others from the community attended the event and barbecue lunch afterward.
MesaTech Corp. is a minority-certified, woman-owned business that distributes point-of-sale consumables to the banking and foodservice industries. The founder, Peggy Peterson, began operations in November 1992 while she and her son, Michael "Mike" Brandon Williams, began supplying printer ribbons and cash register rolls to retail environments from the humble beginnings of a small apartment in Irving.
Twenty years later, MesaTech provides everything from POS consumables and trash liners for convenience stores and restaurant chains to promotional goods and paper supplies to banks and foodservice companies all over the country.
MesaTech will share office and warehouse space with M W Supply while also maintaining a sales office in Grapevine. Both companies will operate under the brand of "M Companies," which will be seen in both signage and delivery trucks.
Williams said he wants the location to become an incubator for other businesses with "flexible business models."
"We try to be ahead of the curve," he said. "It's not the big that eats the small, it's the fast that eats the slow."
As the enterprise expands, Williams said he hopes for the opportunity to purchase other companies and relocate them to Somervell County.
