The Somervell County Commissionerís Court held a special session on Monday, Sept. 22, to tie up some loose ends before finalizing the budget for 2008-09.

Luminant asked the county to approve an interlocal agreement with Fort Worth for a local hazardous waste program.

County Judge Walter Maynard said the county used a similar program a few years ago under TXU. With the new agreement, Luminant has agreed to pay for the program, which will cost about $47 per household.

Several contracts involving Somervell County Juvenile Probation were discussed and renewed.

A new contract from Secure Alert, Inc was also approved. The company provides GPS ankle monitors for juveniles on probation. This is the first time Somervell County will use the system.

After a brief executive session, commissionerís motioned to issue two earnest money contracts at $1,000 each for property adjacent to the hospital project construction site. The property will replace a parking lot used for a storm drainage project near the hospital.

A budget hearing was held at 2 p.m. The budget was approved by a 4-0 vote.
