What is expected to be a single-day project will interrupt travel along a busy stretch of highway. Texas Department of Transportation will seal the surface of State Highway 144 Wednesday.
Work hours are expected span 6 a.m.-4 p.m., impacting travelers between Glen Rose and Walnut Springs. The 144 seal coat project will stretch from FM 56 South to the Bosque County line, according to Natalie Galindo, TxDOT public information officer.
When necessary, traffic will be reduced to a single lane, with flaggers and a pilot car leading motorists through the work zone.
A similar state maintenance project on SH 144 - from the downtown square to FM 56 South - was completed in mid-June.
The seal coat improvements are the state agency's "most cost effective" means of maintaining state highways, extending their life expectancy.
"We appreciate motorists' patience while crews complete this maintenance work," Galindo said. "During construction, alternate routes are encouraged."
