Low-income households can get help paying their electric bills.

Texas Neighborhood Services, a non-profit organization that assists needy families with paying for utilities, said it has received additional funding from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to operate the “Comprehensive Energy Assistance Group” through the end of this year.

The funding will allow Texas Neighborhood Services to respond to low-income households’ energy needs in Erath, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Palo Pinto, Somervell and Wise counties.

Priority will be given to eligible households with one or more occupants aged 60 or older or to anyone who is handicapped.

For more information about the group and whether you qualify for assistance, call the community services staff at 817-556-3752. The office is located at 118 W. Heard St., Suite E, in Cleburne and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
