Travelers, visitors and local residents driving through Glen Rose on U.S. Highway 67 will soon just have to look up to see the next fun event the city and Somervell County have to offer.

Support poles have been installed at two locations along 67 where banners promoting local non-profit events will be hung.

The project, launched by the Glen Rose Downtown Association (GRDA), to install overhead and pole banners and a billboard was a collaborative effort that included support from the Glen Rose Convention and Visitors Bureau and economic development board.

The project began in 2011 with United Cooperative Services donating six support poles, which were installed by Balcorp, a utility pole company, this fall.

Instrumental in the effort were Marty Haught, United Cooperative's senior vice-president of communications and public relations; John Baxter and Tony Munoz with the Texas Department of Transportation; and Dwain Love, with Balcorp Utility, a GRDA representatives said.
