The Somervell History Foundation last week announced that Glen Rose High School student Andrea Allen won the "People's Choice Award" for her drawing entered in the recent Barnard's Mill and Museum Art Contest for GRISD students.  More than 200 people visited Barnard's Mill during the show and enjoyed the art works of elementary, intermediate, junior high and high school students. Visitors participated in selecting the most popular entry in the contest and Allen's piece received the most votes for the People's Choice Award. She will receive a special ribbon and a check for $75. In addition, she will be recognized at a GRISD school board meeting in May. Allen also received a third-place ribbon in the contest.
