The American political leader Patrick Henry was the most celebrated orator of the American Revolution. His “give me liberty or give me death” speech before the Virginia Revolutionary Convention at St. John's Church in Richmond, Va., rings with the passion of those who love freedom and democracy.
The year on Constitution Day, Friday, Sept. 17, Dr. Gary Sisson will recite Henry's famous speech at the Somervell County Courthouse at 9 a.m. and at the Granbury Square Plaza across from the Hood County Courthouse in Granbury at noon.
The Elizabeth Crockett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Brazos Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution are sponsoring the event.
Sept. 17 marks the 223rd anniversary of the drafting of the U.S. Constitution. Everyone is invited to come reaffirm the ideals of the framers of the Constituion and hear Patrick Henry's words of freedom ring across the courthouse square.
