Gear up for Summer Camp 2011 at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center! The theme of this year's “limited edition” summer camp is “Wild Matters.”
That's something to think about: What “matters” affect wildlife and why should wildlife and those issues matter to you?
This camp addresses important issues of conservation and stewardship and fulfills Fossil Rim's mission to “inspire change in the way that kids think, feel and act toward nature.”
Drawing upon materials as diverse as the observations of naturalist Aldo Leopold and the wild, rollicking opinions voiced by Dr. Seuss' “The Lorax,” this summer camp will be a hands-on adventure exploring such topics as sustainability, endangered species, natural dyes and capture techniques.
Fossil Rim also will include a glimpse into conservation careers through the eyes of Fossil Rim's world-class employees.
The camp is from 1:30 p.m. July 22 to 10 a.m. July 24. Ages 9 to 17 may enroll. The cost is $250. (Discounts are available for siblings. Fossil Rim also offers camp scholarships based on merit and/or financial need.)
Moms and dads who want to come to camp, too, can apply to be a camp parent.
