The Somervell County Committee on Aging hosts a “Shop and Swap” on the third Friday of each month at the Somervell County Citizen’s Center from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Glen Rose Bird Club will meet Thursday, April 16, at 2 p.m. at the Glen Rose Bird Sanctuary and car pool to the Wheeler Branch Reservoir north of Glen Rose for the April field trip. Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars, a bird field guide, and refreshments. Bird sightings will be documented and compiled to start a bird checklist for the area. All members are encouraged to bring a guest. The meeting (field trip) is open to the public.
Join the Sheriff and his Relay Team for lunch on Thursday, April 16, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Department. Hot dogs, chips and a drink will be available for a donation to Relay for Life.
Glen Rose O.E.S. will have an all you can eat fish fry on April 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Glen Rose Masonic Lodge building, 204 Barnard Street. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 & under. To go orders will also be available. Funds raised will support a high school scholarship to be awarded in May.
The Glen Rose Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Casino Night and Auction. “Upstairs, Downtown!” will be Saturday, April 18, from 7-10 p.m. at 202 Barnard Street. For more information go to www.grchamber.com or call the office at 897-2286.
The White Church Homecoming will be April 19. The business meeting will start at 11 a.m. and dinner will follow. Please come and enjoy the fellowship and good food.
Somervell County Community Resource Network will meet on Tuesday, April 21, at 11:45 a.m. at the Citizen’s Center in Glen Rose. Speakers will be Mindy Reed from the Children’s Advocacy Center and Jennifer Salinas from the Family Care Program. You can reserve lunch at the Citizen’s Center by calling 897-2139 by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the meeting or bring your own lunch.
Glen Rose ISD will host an open house for the new Technology Center on Wednesday, April 22, from 4-6 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Somervell County Relay for Life will kick off their annual fundraiser from 6 p.m.-6 a.m. April 24-25 at the Glen Rose Soccer Park. The overnight event is used to help raise money for cancer research.
