Somervell County Republican Convention will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, in the Paluxy Room - Somervell Citizens Center on Barnard Street. The purpose of this meeting is to elect delegates to the State Convention in Houston, June 12 through June 14. We will also consider any resolutions that our local party might like to endorse or add to the state platform. Any person who wishes to attend the State Convention needs to let Deedee know so that she can present their names at the County Convention.

The team is from the Glen Rose Medical Center for our Relay For Life is going to be car hopping at the Sonic in Glen Rose on Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. All tips will be donated to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Glen Rose.

Dr. Sheryl Kappus, president of Hill College and Dr. Joel Michaelis, vice-president of Hill College will host a meeting at 10 a.m. on April 1, in the Somervell District Courthouse Annex for all citizens interested in hearing about future plans for Hill College in Somervell County. There will be a question and answer time about current and future programs.

Come to the 2008 Parking lot sale to benefit the Somervell County Relay for Life on April 5 beginning at 8 a.m. in the Glen Rose Medical Center front parking lot. Booths will include choices like craft items, gifts, collectibles, kids stuff, raffles, and food.

The Glen Rose/Somervell County Chamber of Commerce is planning a Casino Night for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at The Tres Rios Resort. The night will have all the attributes of a western saloon, with food, music, card playing and great auction items.

The Meridian Group of Alcoholics Anonymous has moved to the Brantley Building in downtown Meridian (116-B Main St. on Hwy 144) and the entry door is between the Allstate office and the Meridian Public Library. The group meets three times a week - on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m. Meetings are open to anyone who thinks they may have a problem with alcohol.
