The Glen Rose Independent School District board of trustees approved an interlocal agreement and resolution with the City of Glen Rose to hold a joint election on May 14.

On the ballot will be three at-large positions on the board for seats currently held by Marilyn Phillips, Kelley Snodgrass and Andy Snow. The board position elections are staggered and the term is three years.

The Texas Legislature required school districts to hold joint elections with either cities or counties. Glen Rose ISD chose to work with the City of Glen Rose to share polling locations on election day. The state election code requires a written joint election agreement between the two governmental entities.

Each entity conducts its own election, setting up early voting, hiring judges and clerks and purchasing their own supplies.

The first date to file to run for school board trustee is Saturday, Feb. 12 (or Feb. 14 since the administration offices will be closed on Saturday). The last day is Monday, March 14.
