The Glen Rose Downtown Association will host “Jesus is the Reason for the Season” Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. on Dec. 5. The parade will leave from the High School parking lot at 5:45 p.m. and arrive downtown by 6. It will be emceed by Lloyd Wirt. Forms can be picked up at The Glen Rose Reporter office, located at 1005 N.E. Big Bend Trail (Hwy 67). The forms must be returned to Rosie Mims, parade coordinator, at P.O. Rhythm and Walker, therapy dogs registered with Delta Society, will be at the Somervell County Library on Thursday evenings from 5-6:30 p.m. Children are invited to come and read with these cool canines.

The Glen Rose Community Chorus will present Handel’s Messiah at 5 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Glen Rose High School auditorium. The group is directed by David Venable.

Anyone interested in singing can attend rehearsals at First Baptist Church on Wednesdays from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Chorus books are available. For more information, call Venable or Kent Barnes at 897-2351.

The First United Methodist Church will host its annual Lord’s Acre on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. Activities will include a children’s carnival, games, crafts, train ride and bounce houses. Other items will include a bakery, country store, handcrafted gifts, collectibles, books and Christmas décor. A barbecue lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person. A silent auction will be held at 1 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Proceeds will benefit community and youth projects.

The Glen Rose Bird Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Spirit Wind Church. A discussion of plans and events will be conducted. All members are encouraged to bring a guest. The meeting is open to the public.
