On Saturday, March 27, a sale to benefit Relay for Life will be held at the parking lots at Glen Rose Medical Center and at the Best Value Medical Center Pharmacy. The sales begin at 8 a.m.
Also on March 27, the Somervell History Foundation presents the “Art on the Paluxy” art show and sale from 7 to 9 p.m. at the historic Barnard's Mill and Art Museum, 307 S.W. Barnard St. Artist-in-residence Robert Summers and seven other select Texas artists will be featured: Lyndy Benson, Teal Blake, Hugh Gaither, Dina Gregory, Jeff Gottfried, Grace Holley-Stewart and Sally Taylor. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Admission is free for foundation members, $10 for other guests. Proceeds will benefit the foundation. RSVP by March 20.
Alvarado Elementary North will host its fourth annual, Tolbert-sanctioned BBQ & Chili Cook-Off in Glen Rose at Tres Rios River Ranch March 26-27. Full hook-up RV camp sites and cabins are available for Friday and Saturday night. Proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. All cooks are welcome and invited to participate. The Somervell Republican Club will host a forum for Republican congressional runoff candidates on Thursday, April 1, at the Somervell County Citizens Center. Social time is at 6:30 p.m. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Candidate Rob Curnock has committed to attend while Bill Flores will be represented by a supporter. Starry Skye Dance Academy holds its monthly Parents Night Out on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. The last Friday of each month parents can drop off their children, ages 4 to 12. The academy will entertain them with pizza, movies and an open gym. The cost is $20 per child and $10 for each additional family member. Parents need to sign up and pay the week before.
