Alleen Rudolph recently celebrated her 90th birthday with help from friends and family. The event was celebrated on June 14-15.

On June 14, more than 40 family members gathered at Stillwater, a part of Glen Lake Camp and Retreat Center, on SW Barnard Street for a private dinner. They enjoyed BBQ with all the trimmings along with a traditional birthday cake. The great-grandchildren enjoyed swimming in the Paluxy River while the parents and grandparents caught up on old times.

In addition to several gifts, the family presented Alleen with a video presentation of family members and friends wishing her a happy birthday. The video included footage of Glen Rose, and of her former home and friends in Fayetteville, TN, as well as her childhood home in Nortonville, KY.

A scrapbook made by family members was assembled by granddaughter Erica Rudolph Gibbs and presented after dinner. Venessia Rudolph Steelman framed a poem surrounded by artwork created by Alleen’s great-grandchildren and presented it to her at the end of the evening.

On June 15, approximately 80 friends stopped by the Ellis Education Building at Glen Lake Camp and Retreat Center to wish Alleen a happy birthday.

Family members traveled from as far away as California, Indiana, Colorado, Alabama and Tennessee to surprise Alleen on her big day. She also received 70 birthday cards. The family would like to thank all those in the community who helped over the two days and especially to Glen Lake Camp and Retreat Center for providing their facilities for this happy occasion.
