The 2011 Central Texas Child Care Conference will be held Saturday, Sept.10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Science Building on the campus of Tarleton State University in Stephenville.

The Central Texas Childcare Conference is a collaborative effort between Texas AgriLife Extension Service and Tarleton State University.

This year’s conference will feature a dynamic and motivational speaker, Jane Kitson, a.k.a. Mother Goose. Jane is the author of over 350 original songs and finger plays. She has been a classroom teacher and has been an on-site consultant for the last 25 years. Jane was recognized by the Georgia Preschool Association with a Distinguished Certificate of Recognition for “Outstanding Educators in Early Childhood.”

In her keynote address, Jane will have you giggling, wiggling, clapping and learning as she

believes that children are natural wigglers and this energy can be used as a learning experience.

You will learn new activities that can immediately be used in the classroom while fostering skills such as rhythm, repetition and rhyme.

Jane will also provide two break-out sessions, including “A Pocketful of Fun” and “Add a Slice of Music…Add a Slice of Fun.” Other breakout sessions will cover child passenger safety, nutrition and menu planning for children and guidance and discipline.

In addition to the inspiration from Jane Kitson and subject matter expertise from the breakout session presenters, participants also will receive door prizes and refreshments and the opportunity to interact with and network with peers.

Cost for the conference is $30 and is due by Aug. 30. The conference will provide five

hours of in-service training credit. Five CEU’s will be given for an additional charge of $10 per person if desired and must be noted on the registration form.
