Four Glen Rose High School seniors received $1,000 scholarships from the Glen Rose Lions Club last week to further their educations.

Named as Lions Scholars are: Isaias de Reza, who plans to major in nuclear engineering at Texas A&M University; Kyle Keller, who plans to major in business at Texas A&M University; Graham Noell, who plans to study business and possibly law at Southern Methodist University; and Juan Urrabazo, who plans to major in nursing at Tarleton State University.

In addition, the organization awarded $450 to the Future Leaders Organization, or FLO, led by GRHS art teacher Randy Haney. All four Lions Scholars were members of FLO, which tries to instill the desire for leadership opportunities and to serve others.

“When the Lions Club gives us an opportunity like this, you’re signaling to kids that leadership is important and serving is important,” Haney said.

The Lions Club also awarded $450 to the Roger E. Marks Health Care Foundation.
