Junior High Optimist Youth of the Month for October were Jacqueline Condy and Austin Gibson.

Condy is an “A” honor roll student and is enrolled in all pre-AP classes and algebra. She was selected as a Duke Talent Search Finalist.

Her leadership roles include president of the Junior National Honor Society and participated in People to People World Leadership Forum.

Condy’s achievements include visiting Washington, D.C. with People to People, placing third in Maps, Graphs and Charts for UIL, she received two Superior Plus Awards for piano solo competitions, received a 1 in Band Solo & Ensemble and plays soccer for the Tommy Girls.

She gets involved in the community by participating in Relay for Life, attending town meetings and Save Chalk Mountain meetings and helping with Paluxy Pedal.

Gibson is also a straight “A” student and is enrolled in all pre-AP classes and received the pre-AP Science Award.

His leadership roles include playing safety on the “A” football team and secretary of NJHS Organization.

Gibson’s achievements include being a member of UIL Number Sense Team & UIL Science Team, he scored a 1 at Solo & Ensemble band contest and he plays percussion

Gibson is a member of the First Baptist Church Youth; he assisted in putting out flags for the Optimist and participated in the Relay for Life.
