CLEBURNE – Tornadoes and thunder storms, compounded by hail and intense winds, toppled more than 100 United utility poles last night, creating outages for 4,000 members of the electric cooperative at the height of the damage. As of 8 a.m., United crews had restored power to all but 370 members. However, some homes in the areas pummeled by tornadoes have been either completely destroyed or have damage that prevents the cooperative from restoring power for the foreseeable future.. In some cases, utility poles were completely wiped out. The hardest hit areas include Granbury and southwest of Cleburne. 

United emphasizes the need for members and the general public to stay clear of downed power lines. If a power line or utility pole is down, stay clear and call United or local emergency crews.
