We were glad to have Tony Brown, Denver, Sarah, Natalyn and Giana Dugle visit with us last week. If you’re interested in volunteering at the Citizen’s Center, here are some areas we need help in. We need bingo callers, which is every Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Also, we need “42” tournament judges. The tournaments are every first and third Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. If you are interested or have questions please call Pam at 897-2139.

The “42” tournament winners on April 16 were: 1st place Dorothy Holder and Royce Stacy; 2nd place Loveda Swaim and Grady May; 3rd place Jim Halbert and J.D. Armstrong; 4th place Clark Stewart and Roy Mercer. Other teams participating were: Billie and Eddie Flanary; Trey Welch and Ila Verne Stull; Zula Hunter and Cora Harkins; Marilyn Helms and James Foster; Dortha Beck and Floyd Flanary; Billie Jean Pickens and Mary Pruett; Nancy Moore and Mary Voss; Patsy Thompson and Paul Schuelke. Congratulations to the winners and better luck next time to the other teams.

There was a nice turnout for the volunteer appreciation luncheon last week. A total of 87 invitations were mailed and approximately 60 percent attended the event. We can’t express enough, our heartfelt thanks to AARP, Master Gardners, Executive Board, Advisory Council, RAAC, Endowment Trust Fund Board, and all the volunteers who help assist this organization we call Somervell County Committee on Aging, Inc.

The Gospel trio, Texas Crossties, will not perform at the Citizen’s Center on April 25. We will book them at a later date and publish it in our article.

Activities at the Center beginning on April 28 are: ceramics on Monday; needlework, computer class and exercise on Tuesday; 42 or whatever you choose on Wednesday; TOPS and David’s grocery shopping on Thursday; quilting, bingo and Brookshire’s grocery shopping on Friday. We are going to have a fundraiser dance on May 2, at 7 p.m. at the Citizen’s Center. Margie Hartsfield will be singing for the occasion. The charge will be $4 a person at the door.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Sandy Hudson, our receptionist, and Jimmy McKinney, one of our van drivers, who have April birthdays.

Get well wishes go out to Rita Reynolds, Dorothy Jo Osborn and Linley Wright.
