Get your quilting fingers ready. The Glen Rose High School seniors need help getting the Senior Quilt together for Project Graduation.
This year, each senior will sign a six-inch square with a note, which will then be copied and embroidered onto the quilt.
Students can also add the emblem of any organizations in which they are a member to the square. Organizations with intricate designs will be machine embroidered or appliquéd.
With such a big project, class sponsors and project organizers are looking for help.
Spare Time, located at 705 NE Big Bend Trail in Glen Rose, has a list of supplies that will be used. One of the biggest needs is thread for all of the embroidery.
People with talent for quilting are also needed.
Sue Robertson has helped with the senior quilt in years past.
“Anybody can help with it and donate their money to any senior student,” Robertson said.
Volunteers are paid by the hour for working on the quilt with “Project Graduation” money. Students can then use the money in their account to bid on auction items the night of graduation.
