As homes across the county are sprucing up for Christmastime, businesses and volunteers from across the community are preparing for a hometown celebration.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Light up the Town Christmas Celebration will officially kick off the holiday season in Glen Rose.
Beginning at 10 a.m., holiday carols will pipe across the downtown square as vendors and some of Santa's helpers set up shop at Elf Camp.

The camp will allow children to contract holiday crafts and take in festivities as adults shop the square.
Events, including live music and entertainments, pictures with Santa Claus, the annual parade and tree lighting will wrap of the afternoon's events as they merriment moves to Paluxy Heritage Park.

10 a.m. 4 p.m. - Christmas music, shopping and Elf Camp 1:00 p.m. Live Music by McClelen Family 1 -4 p.m. Pictures with Santa benefiting local non-profit organization Kyles Care 2 p.m. Performances by Starry Skye Dance Academy & Gymnastics 6 p.m. Christmas parade begins (Meet at elementary school at 5 p.m.) 6:45 p.m. Tree lighting ceremony 7 p.m. Christmas in the Park featuring Santa and the Teddy Bear Express opens at Paluxy Heritage Park
Christmas in the Park will also be open 6-8 p.m. December 14 and 15 and 21 and 22. offering free family fun, including pictures with Santa, holiday refreshments, self-guided tours of the park's historical buildings and the decorated River Walk.
