The annual 2009 Central Texas Child Care Conference will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.  Saturday, Sept. 12, in the O.A. Grant Humanities Building on the campus of Tarleton State University. The Central Texas Childcare Conference is a collaborative effort between Texas AgriLife Extension Service and Tarleton State University.

This year’s conference will feature a dynamic and motivational keynote speaker, Anne Barab, who will teach us about resilience using humor.  She has served as a school board member for one of the top 100 school districts in the US.  She has also been the CEO of a billion dollar mortgage bank and contributing author to two popular books: “Humor Us!” and “The Leadership Path.”

In addition to the keynote address from Anne Barab, participants will also have the opportunity to attend break-out sessions throughout the morning.  Session topics include:

• CPR and First Aid certification through LifeQuest

• What Children’s TV has Taught Us about How Children Learn

• Dealing with Difficult People

• Nutrition & Menu Planning for Children

• Special Needs Children in Child Care Environments

• Help! I’m Working with Small Children - How Do I Manage Their Behavior?

Door prizes and refreshments will also be available.

Cost for the conference is $20 and is due by Aug. 28. The conference will provide 5 clock hours of in-service training credit. Five CEUs will be given for an additional charge of $10 per person if desired and must be noted on registration form.
