The Glen Rose Chapter No. 171, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 14, in the Masonic Lodge Hall. Officers for the ensuing year 2008-2009 will be elected. All O.E.S. members are needed to help the few members who are keeping the chapter doors open.

The Glen Rose Chapter No. 172, Order of the Eastern Star will have its Fish Fry for the public from 4 - 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Lodge Hall. The funds raised will be used for a scholarship for a Glen Rose High School graduate.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center has invited the Somervell County Master Gardeners Association to participate in their second annual Party for the Plant in celebration of Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 19. This year’s theme is “We Do Conservation.” In keeping with the theme, the SCMGA’s booth will be selling native and adapted plants as well as rainwater harvesting barrels. The Glen Rose/Somervell County Chamber of Commerce is planning a Casino Night for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at The Tres Rios Resort. The night will have all the attributes of a western saloon, with food, music, card playing and great auction items.

Post Oak Cemetery Association will meet Saturday, April 19. All persons interested are urged to come and assist in the cleanup of all the plots to prepare the grounds for mowing. Business meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the Chapel.

Hill College will host its third annual Boots and Suits Ball at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at The Forum in Whitney. It will be an evening of fine dining, music by the Steve Helms Band and the Hill College Jazz Band, dancing, and fundraising, with all proceeds going to benefit the Hill College Performing Arts Department. Individual tickets are $45, and sponsorships are also available.
