Reporter Staff Report
The Walnut Springs Historical Association opened the Historical Museum doors on Oct. 17.
The association began in 2005 with the purpose of preserving the history of Walnut Springs. The museum houses books, artifacts and other items, documenting local history from the first settlers to present day residents.
Relics include items from the days when Walnut Springs was booming with the Katy, or MKT Railroad Roundhouse, machine shops, a college, hospital, feed stores, saloons, a bank and a pharmacy.
The museum accepts display items as donations or on as a loan. Forms are available at City Hall for anyone interested in displaying items.
Patron sponsorships to individuals, businesses, or corporations with business ties in Walnut Springs and the surrounding area are still available.
Sponsorships include the Silver Sponsor at $50, or Gold Sponsor at $100 and Platinum Sponsor at $200. All donations are tax deductible. Silver, Gold or Platinum donors will have their name or organizationís name placed on a plaque and displayed in the museum.
The museum also needs mannequins to display clothing items.
If you would like to donate you can call Kay Affutt at (254) 797-3256 or (254) 797-3721.
