The descendants of F.G. and Emily Hook gathered with families and friends, Sunday, Oct.5, 2008, at the American Legion Hall here in Stephenville.
F.G. and Emily Hook moved to Erath Co. about 1876.They arrived with their firstborn, Charles Jacob Hook, who was born in March 1875. They had seven more children, Georgia Ann, Oma Elizabeth, William Lonzo, Hillman Jackson,Solomon Slaughter,Joseph Shelby,and Laura Lee, who were all born in Erath Co. over the next 14 years. Many of their descendants continue to live in and around Erath County.
Sixty-seven people attended this year’s gathering. Those attending the annual event were: Brooke Dowden, Linda Derrick, Mary Kaseem, J.D. and Jean Moore,Loree Ford, Johnny D. Moore, Preston and Wanda Hook, Lois and James Moser, Martha Ramsey, Becky Brawner, Lena Faye Parr, Hazel Pack, Lauren Revell, Charles Ray Parr, Morgan Dowden, Shannon Dowden, Trevor Wolosenut, Walter and Beth Loudermilk, Sharron Rainey, Glynda Lane, Louise Hook, Houston Hook, Mavalyn, KA and Jake Goza, Kim Roberts, Shayna Roberts, Chris and Tom Robinson, Kyra McLain, Pauline Owens, Kathleen Robinson, Joyce Randolph, Carrol Mooney, Freddie McDonald, Bruz Robinson, Terry, Carmen, and Megan Antoine, Dusty and Margie Rhodes, Jim and Colleen Hook, Autumn, Chuck and Sam McDonald, Melody and Billy Tomlinson, Joyce McDonald, Linda Moser, Bill Hook, Debbie Hook, Ashley Hook and friend, Karen Brown, Bill and Joyce Griffin, R.J.Rhodes, Robert Hook, and Chelsea, Brandon, Reese and Reagan Shipman.
Ribbons were awarded to the youngest girls, 4-month-old twins Reese and Reagan Shipman and youngest boy 10-year-old Jake Goza. The oldest woman and man in attendance, Pauline Owens (age 95) and Robert Hook (also age 95) were awarded flowers.
Tom and Chris Robinson received a gift of snacks for traveling the farthest distance to this year’s reunion. Winners of door prizes were Zane Bishop, Charlie Parr, and Chuck and Autumn McDonald.
Thanks to everyone for coming and thanks to the American Legion for a great gathering place. Next year’s reunion will be held on Sunday,Oct.4,2009.
