The Somervell County Personnel Office will be accepting applications for:

1 Position————Utility Tradesman/Community Service Monitor

Pay Grade:  6

Supervisor:  Mowing Crew Supervisor

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, performs various tasks in the maintenance and upkeep of county roads, bridges, or related structures.  Week-end supervision of persons on probation in the performance of community service projects.  Background check and drug test will be required.

Essential functions as Utility Tradesman during the week:

       1.   Mowing and Brush Cutting.

        2.   Trash pick-up and removal.

        3.   Maintenance of guardrails and other county property.

        4.   Tree trimming.

        5.   Operating a weed-eater

Essential functions as Community Service Monitor on Saturday and Sunday.

      1.  Keep accurate accounting of community service hours.

       2.  Ensure the safety of community service workers.

         3.  Keep track of and properly maintain all community service equipment.

 Educational/Training/Experience Requirements:

       .  Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

        .  Ability to operate tractors/mowers. 

      .  Class C license valid for the state of Texas.

        .  Knowledge of basic building maintenance.

         .  Use and maintenance of lawn equipment and other hand tools.


Mower, tractor, weed-eater, brush cutter, chainsaw, backhoe, loader, chipper and dump- truck.

Physical Demands:

Requires considerable standing, walking and lifting.  May require lifting of equipment in excess of 40 lbs.  Must be able to work outside in varied weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.  Must work Saturday and Sunday each week.
